Communication is essential for a neighborhood our size. We believe our community needs regular and timely updates about gate issues, repair times, and changes to the Rules and Regulations. We also believe it is important to engage with the Hoover Police and Fire Departments and solicit feedback regarding issues they’ve seen or faced in and around our neighborhood.
Health and safety must be prioritized by the Board, especially considering our community's diverse age demographic. Concerns include children biking on streets where cars have reached recorded speeds of 79.8 mph and ongoing gate malfunctions with no information as to the issue or how long it will take for them to be fixed. Additionally, it’s crucial we address the needs of long-standing residents who could benefit from a Neighborhood Care Committee.
The Board should engage the community through monthly or quarterly newsletters and special meetings for owner feedback on major changes, like road safety. Utilizing the Garden Club for front landscaping oversight and recommendations seems not only logical but economical. Additionally, forming subcommittees that promote resident participation in areas such as communication, neighborhood watch, and welcoming and care is encouraged.
Our approach supports focusing on finding solutions that help residents avoid fines, rather than enforcing rigid penalties. It involves reassessing the current fine system to identify any underlying patterns or causes that may lead to fines. Additionally, we propose establishing a fair and standardized appeals process where residents can submit concerns anonymously, ensuring impartiality in the Board's decisions.
Arbor Hill may not be expanding in size, but it's crucial for our Board to be committed and put in the necessary effort for our community to flourish. Similar to any relationship, this growth demands mutual support, open communication, and the ability to adapt to change.
Arbor Hill is a remarkable neighborhood characterized by a diverse community of various ages, races, religions and nationalities. This diversity fosters mutual learning and broadens perspectives. Residents include experts in fields such as healthcare, education and business, contributing valuable skills. The community celebrates global holidays, enhancing cultural exchange. The collective knowledge and experiences of Arbor Hill's residents are significant assets that should be nurtured for everyone's benefit.
