Our friendship began in 2016 through our sons becoming close friends and our shared interests in Arbor Hill. The following year, we established the Residents of Arbor Hill Facebook Page to enhance communication among neighbors and to serve as a channel for the Hoover Police Department, the City of Hoover, and Riverchase Elementary School to share important updates with parents in Arbor Hill. Now, we are seeking election for the two available seats on the Arbor Hill Board of Directors to initiate much-needed changes that have long been awaited by the community. BUT WE CAN'T ACHIEVE THIS WITHOUT YOUR VOTE.
We admit, we haven't always participated in our HOA elections process - we’ve only voted a few times when we knew the candidate(s) running. The rest of the time, like so many residents, we left the decision to those who actually knew the candidates.
WE BELIEVE IT’S TIME FOR EVERYONE TO KNOW AT LEAST TWO OF THIS YEAR’S CANDIDATES.
MY PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND
I have nearly 30 years of experience in the marketing and communications industry. Upon relocating to Birmingham, I joined Alagasco, where I managed all marketing and communications efforts. I continued in this role when the company transitioned to Spire. After spending 14 years at Spire (previously Alagasco), I recently launched my own marketing agency, SQ PEG IDEAS.
WHY I’M RUNNING TO BE AN HOA BOARD MEMBER
I have always been passionate about fostering connections within our community. From launching the Residents of Arbor Hill Facebook page alongside Julie to organizing community yard sales, I believe our wonderful neighborhood can flourish even more with enhanced communications and increased opportunities for neighbors to engage with one another.
MY PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND
I have dedicated 26 years to the Birmingham Police Department, tackling some of the most challenging roles along the way. I have risen to the position of Captain of the East Precinct and currently serve as the Commander of COPE (Community Outreach and Public Education).
WHY I’M RUNNING TO BE AN HOA BOARD MEMBER
During my 26 years on the police force, I have gained a wealth of experience, witnessing a wide range of situations. However, the most vital lesson I’ve learned is the significance of effective communication and strong community ties. As the Commander of COPE, I recognize how these elements impact Birmingham and Arbor Hill, and I believe my background can greatly benefit our community.
